an impressively good, deliciously robust porter featuring coconut, simple and effective, love the roast boldness this brings, not too sweet or chocolate malt forward, the coconut is natural and well integrated, even a little oily and slick which i dig, and the while thing isnt too heavy for warm beachy weather, which are the vibes on the island for sure, very solid. nice looking pour, near black but not too thick, and holding over an inch of tall lighter tan head, airy in a nice way, really pretty. the aroma is toasted coconut, french roast coffee, not too much middle malt richness, and even some back half bitterness that balances the natural sugars of the coconut to me, light caramel and toffee, but again, this is on the dry side for what it is. not overdone with the coconut in the taste, its real and its all through it, but its never quite dominating. a little dark chocolate earthiness here, some definite bitterness, and an almost oaty texture, this feels creamy and smooth for a standard porter, to me playing nearly in the stout space. long aftertaste but not because of sugar, it clings lighter than that, and really its summery and delicious even with the dark elements of the base beer being as prominent as they are. great proportions and overall the beers here were awesome, for such a modest operation they are doing some great things!
