In a forgotten corner of Santee, miles away from the sun-soaked tourist traps of San Diego, you’ll find Three Frogs Beer Company. A brewery that could have been plucked straight from the pages of a steampunk novel, nestled in a random building that no sane visitor would ever stumble upon by accident. But that’s part of the charm, isn’t it? The promise of something different, something out of the ordinary.
Step inside and you’re greeted by an assortment of mismatched chairs, each one telling a story, while outside, the patio offers a more uniform experience—mostly matching chairs and ample shade, a rare commodity in this sun-scorched land. It’s a place that feels like it was cobbled together by homebrewers who double as mad scientists, a tribute to the art of building and innovating with whatever materials happen to be lying around.
The beers here? They’re crafted not for the masses, but for close-knit circles of friends. Yet they’re good enough—just barely—to be shared with the public. It’s like being let in on a secret, the kind you’d only whisper to someone you trust.
Should you make the trek to this borderline steampunk haven? Maybe. If you’re the type who craves the different, the unexpected, then yes, this might be your kind of place. But if you’re looking for the polished, the predictable, then best keep driving, friend. This isn’t the brewery for you.

Hole-in-the-wall sort of place in small strip shopping center on main road. Small service bar among the brewhouse with a few tables inside and a large patio area in the front parking lot. 8 beers on tap. Hot dog tent next door.
