April 2019: 500 ml can, as Nokian Panimo Keisari APA American Pale Ale. ABV 4.2%, EBU 55. Malts are pilsener, pale and crystal. Hops are Tomahawk, Tradition and Cascade. Orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity and herbal hops. Light bodied. The flavour is medium dry, with distinct piney, grapefruity and herbal hops.

CAN: 50cl. 4.0% ABV. Aluminum. Standard pull-tab.
Brewed with tomahawk, tradition, and cascade hops.
Served cold into a mason jar. Reviewed live as an APA per the label. Expectations are below average given the brewery. Truncated notes below:
A: ~2.5 inch white head. Foamy and moderately thick, with good (~5 minute retention). Leaves no lacing as it recedes.
Pale copper of average vibrance. No yeast or hop sediment is visible.
Sm: Floral hops, pale malts, cotton candy. Bready. Fruity.
Aromatic intensity is average.
Pretty shallow and simple, with a muted boring hop profile.
T: Fruity and floral hops, with a juniper berry-esque bitterness. Hop profile is shallow and insufficient. The malt backbone is equally unremarkable - just generic caramalt and pale malts.
Unbalanced and poorly constructed for a pale ale. I don't hate it, but it leaves a lot to be desired.
Mf: Medium-bodied, smooth, wet, overcarbonated, and of average heft and weight. It's pretty basic; there's no custom-tailoring of texture to taste. Lacks harmony.
O: Not gestalt. A pretty bland and poorly constructed pale ale. Not undrinkable outside of style conventions, but it won't appease the discerning drinker - or likely even the casual drinker. Another dud from Nokian Panimo - quite possibly Finland's worst brewery.

50cl can into a tulip. Hazy golden color with a three finger white head. Smell had hoppy grass, pine and lemon with some apple. Taste was crisp and bitter with grass and citrus. Long dry hop aftertaste with grapefruit and pine. Light body and medium carbonation. Very drinkable. Very good beer in it's price class.
