The liquid pours deep ruby brown but light does shine through the center of the glass. The head is impressive on a moderate pour. While it does subside, there are ample 3D spots left on the glass. So, in short, a mixed bag on appearance.

The smell starts with a bit of "freezer burn"--the smell I get when a freezer has gone too long and needs cleaning. Afterwards I pickup darker chocolate and faint coffee.

Relatively dry flavor up front. The body is thin, similar to a Guinness; the carbonation a bit elevated. The taste is pretty true to the style with lots of Baker's Chocolate and light coffee to the flavor. The finish is burnt-bitter with a deeper roasted malt flavor. Moderate length aftertaste. Overall, I'm more impressed with this than I expected to be.
