Thanks to stillmatic2232 for this 16 oz. can, as I continue my hunt for good ‘peanut butter’ beers. Are there many of us?

The pour is porter black, filling my weirdly shaped Kuhnhenn glass nearly to the brim. My nose fills up with malts & peanuts. Sounds like something Sam would hand Norm.

Don’t Be Jelly hints that I’ll be tasting peanuts when I wake up tomorrow. This beer is like being taken alive by Tony Soprano, tossed into a shallow grave alive, & instead of dirt, his cronies start shoveling creamy peanut butter over you. Peanuts. Peanut butter. Creamy. I imagine there’s a beer in here somewhere – you know, malts, hops, yeast, the like – but I can’t sense any. Wondering if I’m going to be able to get through the entire can right now.

A beer that would make Jimmy Carter’s face crinkle up into a big old smile. Good, but where other beers barely drop a peanut shell into the mix, this one goes seriously overboard. Luckily, I like peanuts. Pretty good beer with potential to be amazing.

Can purchased at AJ's Beer Warehouse in Henrietta, NY.

This one pours a very dark brown, with a one inch head, and a good level of lacing.

Smells like dusty peanuts, peanut shells, and dark chocolate.

This tastes more like actual peanuts, than peanut butter, for sure. It doesn't have the sweetness I associate with peanut butter. There's some chocolate, but there's not a whole lot of other complexity beyond that. It's hard to tell if the base porter is any good, which is tough. I do like the peanut flavor though, so that's a plus.

This is medium bodied, pretty creamy, but I definitely wish it was a bit more full bodied.

This is a fairly nice little beer, but it has a few things holding it back from being truly great.

Really good! Crazy dark taste with a strong peanut butter flavor. I have been looking for something like this and this works quite well. I didn't realize it was so high in ABV and drank it quickly. But amazing overall!

A: Poured a dark brown, fair retention of the tan head
S: Light roasted aromas with a faint smell of peanuts, very pleasant
T: Stronger notions of peanut, though not quite as fulfilling as sticking your finger in a jar of peanut butter. Roasted grain flavors come through clearly behind the peanuts
F: Creamy and delightful
O: A good overall beer but the peanuts didn't taste quite the way I would've liked them to come through. Also somewhat shallow of a beer, lacking flavors I might have liked to see alongside the peanuts like chocolate or caramel. I'll be happy to finish the 4 pack I have but I'm not sure I'd go back for another
