On tap at Rohrbach Buffalo Road Brewpub in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark-ish amber color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rich bready malt, dark fruit, boozy astringency, tobacco, leafy hops, and caramel.
This is obviously no Rochefort 10, which clearly it is inspired by. It is still a worthy effort, though, with a nice and not too sweet fruitcake-esque malt flavor, with dried dark fruit and a bittersweet breadiness. It's definitely a touch hot on the back end, with a sort of leafy and boozy bitterness.
This is medium bodied, and pretty rich, with a slightly lingering boozy bitterness on the back of each sip.
Rohrbach is certainly not my favorite local brewery - but this is definitely the lane they should be staying in.
