Had on tap at the brewery 11/07/08 and decided to buy a growler of it. One of my favorite styles so I was excited to see this. Pours creamy and thick with medium/low carbonation, not brilliantly clear but good, and a pretty straightforward brown color. Taste is really nice- balanced just right off the bat with just enough of a bittering presence that complements a heavy dose of Munich malt and maybe a little more black patent/chocolate malt than I'd be used to in an Alt, but it definitely works. What I love about Altbiers is the sweet hop aftertaste and this one definitely lived up to my expectations. While drinking the growler the little extra dark roasted malt started to get to me in terms of drinkability, but I pulled it off. Looking forward to picking up this one again.
