Rohrbach Sweet Stout is a solid black ale with an ample, reddish brown head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. It has a roasty aroma with notes of chocolate and carmelized sugar. It's medium bodied and quite smooth; slick with a starchy finish. Yeah, it's pretty sweet, but not obnoxiously so. It's kind of like a chocolate milkshake in a way. The roasted flavor is the most prominent, like coffee and dark chocolate. The bitterness comes in at the finish and seems slightly green and slightly metallic. I prefer the dry stout, but this is a nice change. I'm glad to see rohrbach offering so many different dark beers. This is also available in a 12 oz. bottle as Dundee Stout.
