Rohrbach Nightfrost Porter is a solid black ale with a dense, bubbly mocha-colored head that has outstanding retention and lacing. It has a very roasty aroma with sweet vanilla and dark chocolate in the nose. It's full bodied and very smooth. The finish is soft and pretty clean. It has a roasty chocolate flavor with notes of cherry and vanilla. It's pretty straightforward and very tasty. It rides the line between sweet and dry. There is just the smallest hint of bitterness to complete the taste. The first time I tasted this, I didn't detect the cherry, but it's blatant on my second tasting. Also, there's a lot of caramel this time around. It's a great idea for a dessert beer, but it's just fine for a session if you ask me.
