Despite having the dark color of a stout or German black lager, the Czech version of a dark lager uses a complex array of malts to create a flavor with much more sweetness, notes of caramel, sweet bread, and milk chocolate with minimal roast and a much smoother finish.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells pretty chocolatey, with some roast, pumpernickel like breadiness, and a touch of hops.
This is absolutely one of the most solid beers that Rohrbach has ever done – they clearly turned up for the eclipse, more than even the clouds turned up that day! This is really creamy, and chocolatey, with a spicy and pleasant bitterness, bready with pumpernickel, some coffee, etc.
This is overall just very, very well balanced, and very drinkable.
I really enjoyed this one, legitimately one of the best beers that Rohrbach has ever done in their long history.

Draft pour at Rohrbach. From the tap list: “ Despite having the dark color of a stout or German black lager, the Czech version of a dark lager uses a complex array of malts to create a flavor with much more sweetness, notes of caramel, sweet bread, and milk chocolate with minimal roast and a much smoother finish.” Excellent!
