I've never been the biggest fan of IPAs, which I suppose is a sacrilegious thing to admit on a website like this. However, this was a cask ale offered at a small cozy pub in Yorkshire, and looking at the extremely sessionable ABV percentage, I decided to give it a go and see how an IPA is done in the UK. I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed this. In fact, I liked this better than pretty much any American craft IPA I've ever had. Perhaps because it's more in line with my preferences for less boozy beers. It had all the good qualities of a delicious IPA (notes of grapefruit, pine, fruitiness) without the aspects of many American craft IPAs that I dislike (headaches). I almost wonder if this even falls under the style of "American IPA" considering how different it is compared to any IPA I've ever had from the US. I haven't had enough "English IPAs" to know whether this would fall under that style instead.
