"Harvest time is always bustling and thirst inducing. This fresh hop version of our Mexican-Style Dark Lager is here to help quench that thirst. The blend of German and US malts and corn lays the foundation for the soft and delicious hop flavors from the Tettnanger hops we get from our friends at Goschie Farms. Putting the local touch on a classic style! Salud!"

Look: Jet black on the pour and in the glass with a lofty khaki head that settles to a lid and holds well
Aroma: Roast, chocolate, earthy notes, freshly baked bread, toasted bread, and lightly toasted tree nuts. I’m not getting a lot of fresh hop character here
Taste: Kicks off with some roast and chocolate before the earthy hops push in and shine for a moment. That note fades as layers of bread and tree nuts carry the next phase before closing out with more earthiness
Mouthfeel: Light but full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and clean and crisp on the finish
Overall: This is my first ever beer from these folks and even though they can be hit and miss, I’m a sucker for non-traditional fresh hop beers (IPA, APA) so took a flyer. It’s good but doesn’t have a lot of fresh hop character, although it’s also almost a month old, which means a lot in fresh hop land. Still a good one and glad I tried it
