Deliciously sculpted from all of the goodies commonly found in the candy and baking shops, Fabled Brewing pulls no punches by mauling the tastebuds with a coconut candy bar inspired pastry stout.
Just shy of onyx black and pouring with the consistency of chocolate syrup, Maul gets going with a dainty trickle of espresso foam that forms about the edges of the glass. As its sultry scent of chocolate, coconut, coffee, cream, kahlua and vanilla round the nose, the first sip leans in with the indulgence of candied coconut slathered in chocolate, molasses, french vanilla and heavy whipping cream.
As its heavy malt sweetness and generous adjunct sugars coat the palate like brownie batter, the decadence of creamy chocolate sweetness proves dessert-like. As its coconut character weaves in and out of sweetened espresso, alcohol spice and a hint of smoky char, there’s a sense of toasted and buttery coconut candies that floods the finish.
Full, reckless and cloying, Maul finishes malty-sweet and never concerned about balance or drinkability. Instead its intent is to batter the tastebuds with dessert-like flavor leaving the palate fully fatigued after just a few sips.

Look - Black and thick with no real head, very slight rimming
Smell - Toast and Sugar
Taste - Very toasty when it was cold. As it warms up the Caramel takes over. Coconut in the middle the whole time with some salty pretzels. Pretty boozy with a slight bitter bite
Feel - Medium full body with a lighter carb
Overall - I don't like the toast, caramel, coconut, salty pretzel combo
