Like a bull in the china shop, the trendy pastry stout takes a fudgy toll on Fabled Brew Works. As they roll in the flavors of roasted marshmallow, fudge and pistachio, this stout is only bullish for those opposed to dessert beer.
Pouring with a pudding-like consistency into the glass, Bull of Minos brings a deep and dark milkshake-like consistency while slowly building a dainty creme of froth. As a highly seductive scent of chocolate, burnt cream, coffee and kahlua spice all flood the nose, those impressions of roasted marshmallow come to mind. Lavishly sweet on the early palate, impressions of fudge and cake batter come with savory roasted marshmallow, candied nuttiness and sweet French vanilla even more.
An extension of fudge and roasted marshmallow broaden across the middle palate as the lavish and dense beer coats the mouth with a heavy booze landen cream laced with chocolate liqueur and kahlua. Very frapppuccino-like, the ale keeps its milkshake textures in check heading into a late palate of light coffee earthiness for balance while still soothing the palate with marhmallow and pistachio.
Plush, pillow and pleasantly cloying, the pastry stout doesn't even attempt drinkability, palatability or dryness. Instead its a serious reward for the tastebuds as its packed full of culinary art. Finishing unapologetically dense, chewy and sticky-sweet, the session closes with the temptation of alcoholic cake batter.
