On tap at the brewery, served in a snifter.
Look: Opaque black, no head or lacing.
Nose: Sugar and brown sugar sweetness, rye underneath.
Taste: Attack is very sweet, almost cloying — both sugar and artificial sweetener. Finish has just a hint of bitterness — not enough to bring balance to the flavor.
Mouthfeel: Thick, coating the tongue. About the right amount of carbonation.
Overall: I’m sure the rye is in the flavor somewhere — it’s certainly evident in the nose — but it’s buried by the overwhelming sweetness. Pull out some of the sweetness and this beer has more potential.

At the brewery in a 10oz snifter.
Dark brown, almost black color. At first glance you would say it is a stout. But the aroma and taste will tell you otherwise very quickly. Lovely rye bourbon character, works really well with the imperial brown. Enjoyed it very much.
