A Colorado Black Lager. Not a Czech Dark lager because we use Cascade hops from Colorado Hop Company. Not a Schwartzbier because we mashed only the finest pale, caramel, and chocolate malts from Troubadour Maltings right here in Fort Collins. The yeast? Lager yeast from Inland Island Yeast Company in Denver. This creation is all-Colorado and only Colorado. Hints of coffee, chocolate, and caramel dominate the profile, but drinks clean and light like a summer night on the Front Range.

Pours black. It has two fingers of off-white foam. Aroma is heavy toasty and nutty malts, with some roasty and caramel cutting through. In the distant background is a kiss of chocolate. Grain and earthy malts fill out the rest of the aroma. Flavor profile is toasty, roasty, nutty, caramely, and bready malts. Grass and earthy hops complete the dark-leaning, but not hefty feeling, flavor profile. Mouth feel is medium in thickness. Texture is soft and leans fuzzy in texture. Overall, pretty good. It is all driven by pleasant dark malts that don't linger.
