Solid golden color with no head.
Aroma with predominant notes of honey, malt juice and pine. I fell like I am being influenced by the recipe, but I would swear that I got some Sake scent as well.
Flavor with notes of sake, malt juice, green apple, lemon grass and pine. Dry aftertaste with a mild to medium bitterness. It certainly does not fell at all to have 40 IBUs.
Light body with almost flat carbonation.
This feels as a hybrid Pale Ale with a Japanese accent. It does not taste as an American Pale Ale at all. That said, it was interesting and it should harmonize with Sushi even better than Sake. The experience would be enhanced if this was not almost flat (ps. Expiration date was still 7 months to go).
