really cool beer, delicious and interesting, oatmeal stout base done with cold brew coffee, vanilla, and almond extract, a thrilling addition to this, they call it a cappuccino stout, but its quite a bit more nuanced than what that generally means, impressive! close to black but still dark brown and not super thick, short creamy khaki head on it, looks just fine. aroma of strong black coffee, possibly roasted through its profile a little bit, but with some dark chocolate there and maybe the dark roasted barley could be doing some of that, bitter then to balance against the richness the vanilla adds, but its not overdosed, and the almond is immediately appreciable, nutty and amazing with the coffee and the middle malts alike, very well proportioned and cohesive, wintery without needing to be strong or anything, which is uncommon. the flavor is good, the roast is strong and the coffee leads, but the almond is there the whole way, very amaretto and marzipan, very holiday, lovely and not overdone. vanilla is an accent, and thats all it needs to be for this. some bitterness so its not a dessert beer to me, no need for lactose and all that, and the fermentation is clean, the body appropriately fuller, and overall a very nice beer. the almond makes it unique but the base stout is nice too, quite bold on the coffee and roast, i dig it.
