Tasted this beer by half-pint during Wetherspoon's May beerfestal at my local. It's an extremely interesting beer, for it presumably does not employ any ingredients which one would use for Banoffee pie, but the result is so stunning that I had to write to the brewery for clarification.
Appearance: it comes in a beautiful, clear, amber hue, with a lasting frothy off-white beerhead, leaving fine lace along the way.
Smell: quite straight-forward--lightly toffeeish and bananaish on nose. Am I obliged to feel surprised, especially after being told it's related to Banoffee anyway? Trying to imagine something else with my eyes closed, and some tartly sweetness of raisins also comes to mind.
Taste & Aftertaste: accompanying the pleasant main theme of sticky toffee is also mouthful of burned sugar, refreshingly medium, tartly-sweet green bananas, light licorice, white chocolate... Following the extremely interesting taste is not very lingering aftertaste, redolent of banana and tropical fruit-candyish flavour, and some walnutty bitterness in the throat.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: overall the beer has medium-full flavour whereas the body is a bit too thin and the mouthfeel overly flat. I personally find it an extremely interesting brew and would gladly spend some time on this beer alone, but it's not exactly the thing I'd drink for more than one pint either alone or with friends.
