Brewed with a Blend of German Malts; Lightly Hopped with Bentele Farms Tettnanger (Tettnang, Baden-Württemberg)
Brewed with a blend of German barley malts, Gilded Splinters is pitch black in color, with well-balanced notes of dark bread, espresso and cocoa. Step-mashed, decocted, lagered for 5 weeks and naturally-carbonated, this German-style Schwarzbier is crisp, clean and bright on the palate, despite the darker hue.

Tap at Saint X. Poured a dark, dark brown color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of coffee, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Sweet caramel taste with toffee and some bitter coffee.
