(Notes of August 2007) Tasted by a half pint at the Devonshire Cat, Sheffield.
A: dark reddish amber in colour, coming with a beige creamy head and very mild carbonation.
S: pine, raw nuts and slightly sour pineapple-ish yeast esters abound, on top of a good backbone of gristy malts, but still very fruity on the balance.
T: semi-rotten apples and overripe peaches account for the yeasty influence upfront, while syrupy amber and chocolate malts lead towards a mildly spicy finish of hop bitterness; the thick gristy malts leave a mark in the lasting aroma, as well as the slightly sharp yeastiness... Meanwhile, the biscuity maltiness lasts very well in the end.
M&D: creamy soft on the mouthfeel and rather light on the over body, yet slightly flat in terms of mouthfeel due to the state of freshness. Overall, the malty performance could make this an enticing ale to quaff, if it was served fresher of course.

A nice bitter. Aroma and flavour are a bit charred. Raisins aswell at the start, but its not sweet, dry citric spicy hops in the finish, quite a bitter finish. Relatively interesting and easy to drink, bit of sulfur on the nose aswell, not too bad...
