Tasted by half-pint at the Head of Steam, Euston, London.
A: copper-ish hue, no beer head, slightly warmer than ideal temp...
S: sour-sweet fruity, like sour-plums+prunes, on top of a deep caramel-malty backbone. Simplistic, if not a little boring.
T: plummy, tea-ich, cranberry-ish flavour upfront, full of malts and fruity hops. The sour-sweet fruity maltiness sustains along with an herbal hint of mint-leaves and lingering bitterness deep down the palate.
M&D: too flat the mouthfeel is... lacking fizzy support and too thin the body--it could've been worse if the original flavour didn't stand out to salvage the overall impression. Not on form, as many ales at this previously decent pub have shown. Head of Steam heading down-hill~~ Like to try it again next time when it's fresher and well-conditioned.
