Tasted recently by a half-pint at the Devonshire Cat, Sheffield. Poured by a handpump with a sparkler.
A: bright amber in colour, a thin but creamy white beer head sustains beautifully, on top of low carbonation.
S: apple-ish fruitiness leads towards Fuggles stinky edge and some sour-sweet maltiness with a touch of caramel Overall, pretty standard for an English bitter, and the aroma is somehow restrained maybe due to the freshness issue.
T: buttery malts with a mildly sour-ish undertone; gradually sweet and mildly nutty malty aroma lingers on the palate, backed by a flow of moderately bitter hops as an anchor at the tail.
M&D: light-bodied, low-fizziness on the palate, this is not an exciting but a solid pint for sessions.
