Pint at the King Charles I near Kings Cross Station.
A: Mahogany colour, thick looking, one finger tanned head, decent retention, didn’t leave much lacing.
S: Cocoa beans, dark chocolate.
T: Malty raspberry gave way to dark chocolate finish with a hint of bitterness.
M: Light body, reasonable amount of carbonation.
O: Listed as an Old Ale, but had real Porter qualities. Very nice.

Notes of 04/04/07. Tasted by a half pint at the Doric Arch, the previous Head of Steam and now a Fullers house next to Euston Station, central London.
A: dark copper to brownish hue, the off-white thin foamy head sits on top of rather steady carbonation.
S: plenty of sweet black sugar syrup and dark malts dominate the nose, added with a touch of prunes.
T: Mild-like start, along with plenty of melted black sugar, longan-fruits, and Munich-malt-like sweetness; slowly a black-tea-leafy, dryish as well as slightly grassy edge of hops reveals. A touch of roastiness hides at the end of the palate, quite like a Mild.
M&D: texture remains very smooth, and yet slightly water-ish in the end; this is a stronger Mild or an Old Ale that gives a delicate bitter edge in the finish. Overall, this ale is decent enough, worth a try once in a while.
