Pours a little hazy deep burnt orange with a massive head that stays for a long time and leaves sticky lacing everywhere...almost like foam sealant for insulation. Nose is mildly earthy and floral...definitely an English style IIPA. Flavor is interesting if you are used to typical American IPAs. Malty and bitter, orange peel. Overall, a good beer that I'd like to see more of style-wise since it is a different take on the usual IIPA.

A: This one pours with a 3-4 finger head with an aggressive pour. The head is slightly off-white which dissipates into a ring and leaves some light lacing. The body is slightly dark for an imperial IPA at a medium to dark amber.
S: Lots of oak and then some bitterness. The oak is very prevalent. Floral hops, with some grapefruit breaking through the oak. Some alcohol, but not distracting or overwhelming. The floral hops don't overpower the vanilla oakiness on display.
T: The oak is predominate, but there are a lot of floral hops. No alcohol, which is dangerous at almost 10% and there is a sweet aftertaste. Alan Thomson, the brewer, said that this bottle is roughly six months old and he expects it will become much more barleywine-like in due course.
MF: Slick oakiness and slightly thinner than I had expected. Coating.
O: An interesting one that I had difficulty scoring. I'm debating on letting the second one I bought age, or maybe I'll just bust it open and enjoy.
