Drinking out of a tumbler at a hotel in Nairobi. Bought this at a truck stop on the way from Masai Mara.
Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a filmy head.
Smells of wet socks and Brett.
Nice mouth feel.
Tastes of sourness. Brett. No hint of alcohol.
Missing some of the sweetness and fullness of a Trip,e.
But best beer I’ve had in Africa so far.

Found in a Sawa City grocery store in Kigali, Rwanda. Its exciting to find craft beers from different countries here, as its not that common. Poured this one from the 330ml bottle into a mug. The beer was an orangey gold with a lower than expected off-white head. Smell was faint but had honey notes and the expected yeast. Taste was a little off with a good amount of cane sugar alcohol in the middle. There was some honey, citrus, and yeast as the beer progressed, but really this beer reminded me more of a Euro strong ale more along the lines of martens 12 or something. It was a change but honestly not super like a tripel. If this was labeled as a different type then my expectations would be different, but as a tripel it's not doing it for me. I will try the other offerings from 254 if they appear here again though!
