Habsburg Lager is our seasonal release Vienna Lager, this year brewed with malt from @weyermann_specialty_malts and select Spalter and Hallertau Mittelfrüh from our good friends from @prohops.de Clean and crisp with notes of toasted bread, biscuity Tuc crackers, and a touch of honey, Habsburg is a seasonal release that we enjoy bringing back each year just as the weather turns colder in time to get your fireplaces going for the coming months.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a 4-pack for $14.49 plus tax. Canned on 11/29/23, so this one is almost four months old.

Look: Nice medium amber color. It has a slightly ruby hue to it. Very nice clarity. The light brown head quickly subsided. Lots of small- to medium-sized bubbles are rising up the glass. A bit surprising that there is basically no head retention, but that's okay.

Smell: Very nice malty aroma with a bit of toast, caramel, cocoa, fruitiness, and floral notes. Amber honey and toasted grain. Black walnuts. It smells very clean, fresh, and inviting.

Taste: It's very tasty and super drinkable. The finish is crisp, just slightly bitter, and fairly dry compared to the initial taste and nose. Up front, it has a nice maltiness that is not too sweet. The hoppiness is subtle on the finish and balances the beer very nicely. It's nice to have a beer that is so bready and malt-forward without being heavy or sweet. The tasting notes mirror the nose: honey and light molasses, dark bread, light cocoa, a bit of fruitiness, and lots of toasted cereal grain notes.

Feel: It's light to medium bodied with a bit of chew and and crispness.

Overall: Very tasty and super drinkable. I said that already in the Taste section, but it really is. This would make a nice session beer. IMHO, it puts Samuel Adams Boston Lager to shame! It would be fun to have a side-by-side tasting with this and von Trapp's Vienna Style Lager.
