Bottled and possibly bottle conditioned
Pours a golden crystal clear golden body with decent enough white head
Nice enough citrusy aroma
Taste us rather like a blend of good lager and hoppy bitter
Okay bodied

Purchased from the Marks & Spencer supermarket, coming in a 568ml brown bottle; BB 10/2014, served mildly chilled in a straight imperial pint glass. Notes: This is one of the “Single Variety Hop” beer series that M&S has contracted a few British breweries to produce for them. The Brewer’s Gold hops used here are from the Hallertau region in Germany.

A: pours a pale golden colour with great clarity, coming with mild carbonation and a thin but well-lasting off-white foamy head.
S: quite sweet in general, with notes like lightly burned cane sugar but luckily not OTT, underlined by sweet citric, floral and prune-ish notes of hops. Given a good swirl, the aroma elements are mixed well to render an altogether lightly honey-ish and floral impression.
T: pretty fizzy albeit not in a sharp way, the flavour is nicely malty, savoury-mineral and lightly limey, but soon ensued and taken over by a semi-dry mouthfeel to linger towards a moderately bitter, faintly spicy and floral finish.
M&O: refreshing on the palate although the fizz level comes slightly too high to my liking, this medium-bodied single hop Blonde Ale has combined a delicate malt profile with the elegant and at times subdued hop characters from Hallertau’s Brewers Gold in a nice way, although the pasteurisation process, which I suspect is involved, might have contributed to the burned sugary nose felt upfront.
