L- By lamplight it appears black. Pretty low head formation, just a thin covering of bubbles.
S- Mild for so dark a beer. I do just get a hint of stone-fruit and touch of perfume with it.
T- The fruit+perfume now comes through immediately. It's that prominent it's the focus of attention, it dominates, as cherry does in cherry cola.
F- I get a light brushing of briefly 'very dry' over my tongue and yet it's not a particularly hoppy beer.
O- This beer comes over as rather confusing to me. The plum dominates far too much for me. The perfumed edge doesn't add either. My wife (whose beer it is!) maybe it would work better if it were 10%. And that's a thing, at 6.5% it feels underpowered.
Shame as the 750ml bottle cost a thumping £11 from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge. Unusually the bottle has the ceramic stopper on a steel wite structure, but that was redundent as it had a standard steel cap on it too. Ah well, I'll keep it for home-brew. bb: 04/2023. Contains 'Natural plum flavouring, port' amongst the more usual... Not one I'd buy again.
