A 500ml clear glass bottle with a BB of Feb 2013. Pick up from Morrisons quite a while back. The label describes it as a seasonal porter fused with plum and damson flavour, giving it an autumn fruit character. As it's late autumn heading into winter, I thought this might go down well.
Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. Sediment suggests bottle conditioning. A deep ruby-brown hue with plentiful carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a surface layer. Aroma of sweet, plummy fruit with undertones of roasted malt. Hints of plum jam, prunes, dried fruit, earthiness, faint caramel and stewed hops. Unusual but rather nice.
Tastes of dark, grainy malt with a fruity character and a dry finish. Notes of roasted grain, plum jam, prunes, dried fruit, caramel, stewed hops and mild earthy yeast. A restrained, dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, but a tad thin for the style. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of fruits and dark malt.
Interesting and different. Although the blending of fruit and beer is not a new concept, I've never come across an autumn fruit beer before. Quite nice, the dark malt and sweet fruity flavours from the plums/damsons marry together well. Not overly complex and could perhaps have more depth and body, but tasty and pleasing to drink. Goes down well at this time of year - worth sampling if you should come across it.

500ml bottle (brewed for the Morrisons supermarket chain): best before 1st Feb 2013, poured into my Abbot Ale glass tankard during an IPA and Porter tasting evening on 11th Aug 2012.
Almost Ruby red in colour with a fading head of small white bubbles.
Intense strawberry and red berry aroma, this is one fruity brew (label claims plum and damson flavours): my nose found berries though.
The taste was also fruit berries, bitter strawberries mostly for me.
Fairly light bodied for a Porter but I thought the beer both different and interesting.
