A - this ale is a golden yellow brownish color with a nonexistant head, but the body is too hazy to note any carbonation
S - a rather nondescript aroma, fresh and hoppy, but other than that nothing too specific, but you can tell that quality sits in the glass before you
T - starts with a great maltiness complet with fruity esthers, then halfway through turns a 180 and wickedly transforms into a big bitter hoppy finish
M&D - a great bittersweet balance a battle of a beer, well done CBH, nice easy down mouthfeel, would make a good session beer

German-style refillable growler filled at the brewpub.
First pint glass pours with a dense 1/2" off-white head, which lasted well, over a honey amber brew. Lacing was on the good side of average, with a very light, somewhat non-descript aroma, what was noticeable was balanced. Taste is grains husks, countered with what seems like equal amounts of hops character. Mouthfeel is smooth, and soft on the tongue, as I have noted the other CH brews to be. Drinkability is very nice as well. Not a very hoppy APA, reminds me more of a mild, and I'll rate it as such, since it was certainly a nice brew, whether or not it fits into a style pigeonhole.

Draught @ Brewpub: This is an interesting beer. At 4.4%ABV, it is a little less than the majority of their beers. It doesnt seem to hurt it at all. The aroma is a tad light, but a pleasant mix of some malts (although no sweetness), and a slight hop spiciness. It is a slightly hazy, somewhat orangish color, with a small head and some lacing. The taste is a bit dry. It is somewhat biscuity, and has a good malt base, with no sweetness at all. The hops are evident, but no real bitterness to the beer. A very nice session beer.

Wow...my first "first review" beer...I'll try not to blow it!
Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer is a hazy copper color with a tiny little head, probably smaller than it was after the pour. Not much in the way of aroma, a nice malty base with a bit of hops in the background. This is the perfect beer to display as an example of why you need more than 3-4 ounces to review. It was served a tad cold and the first thing I noticed was a huge, almost overwhelming, diacetyl butter note. This was followed by a stiff hop bitterness, but the diacetyl was just too strong and overwhelming. By mid glass, it had warmed up a bit and the diacetyl softened nicely, exposing a fantastic malt base and allowing the nice hop bitterness to shine through. The diacetyl actually works well in this beer after it warms, as the sweetness is the perfect counterpoint to the bitterness of the hops. The two flavors create a wonderful harmony. This feels like a "comfort beer" designed to consume in quantity. At 4.4%, this is not a bad idea...immensely drinkable. Not the best beer they make by any stretch, but it's much better than the first few sips led me to believe. I'd suggest holding it between your hands and allowing it to warm a bit before tasting...especially if you just have a sample.
