A - dark black brown with almost no head.

S - roasty and toasty, hints of coffee.

T - a lot of coffee up front balanced very well with the bitterness of the hops.

M - a lot of bite on the tongue but very light in the finish-the character of the water shines through.

O - this beer is alright. I'm not very familiar with this style but I like this example of it. A lot of flavor up front but still very sessionable. This was also my favorite out of five beers I tried off the tap tonight.

Deep dark brownish black with a low beige head. Inviting aroma of cocoa and roasted malt, some nuttiness. Rich flavors of roasty malt, a bit charred and ashy, some unsweetened cocoa. Mild hop flavors but some firm bitterness to offset the malt. Moderate carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Very tasty and drinkable.

Served cold in a pint glass the beer arrives with a dark cola hue and creamy beige head of 1 cm that fades to a sturdy surface layer. Leaving some tight lattice on the glass as it fades. Aroma is roast malt and a light chocolate hit but dark bakers choc, mostly roasted malt nose. First sip reveals an average body and fine carbonation. Flavor is malty and roasted malt, some drying on the finish. No hops or booze to be detected. Very easy to drink and well crafted brew.

A - Ominous Forecast arrives a stout black in color at my table with crimson highlights and a thin ring of a tan head

S - the smell is dominated by two main elements, toasted malts and roasted coffee beans, both are rich and warming, there is a tertiary nutty/earthy aroma as well

T - the flavors mirror the aroma, the only difference is that the roasted coffee bean element takes charge and is much larger, the toasted malts and nutty characteristics take on a supplementary role

M&D - this is a thin-bodied schwarzbier with a smooth mouthfeel that is highly drinkable, a fine brew again from CBH

Draught in Granby: This one pours an opaque brown color. It had a small tan head on it that leaves some lacing. The aroma is mainly roasty, but a little lighter. There are some earthy hops in there also. This one definitely has a lighter body. Mainly a roasty flavor, with a touch of an earthy dryness to the finish. It has a very clean taste and is easy to drink.
