Deep dark brown with ruddy highlights, capped with a low light brown head that disappears quickly.
Low aroma of cocoa and smoke. Rich flavor, initially very smokey, lots of nuances moving in and around - cocoa and espresso, tart currant and marshmallow, some woody notes, hints of leather and charred bark, mild phenolic band aid note, grilled barbecued beef lingers.
Even mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, finishes a bit tannic and puckery. Tasty beer, very smokey, drinkability depends on your affinity for smoke, but I really like this one.

Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours an opaque, very dark brown color. There was a very slim tan head on it that leaves little or no lacing. It has a very smokey aroma. roasted malts and some chocolate also. the taste is good. Smokey, chocolate malt, some roastiness. Somewhat bitter, with a bit of sweetness in the finish. Good, but you had better like smokey beers if you want to drink this one.
