Our Belgian-Style Imperial IPA is dedicated to those who have lost their battle with ALS, and to those still fighting! We are honored to be a part of raising awareness & funds to find a cure for ALS - one beer at a time! This once-a-year brew blends the character of Belgian Abbey yeast with monumental dry hop regimens using the latest Ales for ALS Hop Blend. This year’s batch highlights dank aromas of resinous pine, flavors of malty sweetness, & a hint of tropical fruit. The result is bold and complex, yet dangerously smooth. Benefaction serves as the perfect vehicle to showcase this well-balanced, unique hop blend, while also supporting a cause that means so much to us.

A strange combination. Red orange color, slightly hazy, minimal head. Smell is immediately of dank imperial IPA. Slightly bitter, grassy hop flavor. Slightest hint of Belgian yeast, as in a tripel. No sweetness or spice. Slightly heavy feel.

16oz can. Poured out a slightly cloudy, golden orange color with a small, white head of fluffy foam. It left sudsy trails of lace. It smelled of bubblegum, sweet fruit, caramel and some resin. Sweet fruity taste with bubblegum, caramel, toffee and pine.

L: Light orange body, minimal head
S: Faint and sweet. Apricot, orange peel, stone fruit, honey, and melon.
T: Grainy malt right off the bat, but fleeting, quickly turning to fruit, orange peel and lemon, backed faintly by mango and pineapple flavors, concentrated fruit that’s typical of imperials, but less so than many other examples. It finishes with caramel and a slight bitterness on the tongue.
F: Light medium carbonation, smooth, slight warmth.
O: Fairly easy drinking, on the sweet side but decently balanced, good but otherwise unremarkable.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Dark golden pour, mild haze, foamy head fades to thin cap. Aroma is a nice balance of yeast and malts. Taste is malty, sweet, the Belgian yeast adding nots of sourdough and honey. All this leads to a nice mild crisp bitterness at the finish. Smooth, silky textures.
