Thirsty Crab Brewery

I visited Thirsty Crab today while exploring Whidbey Island and sampled a couple beers and had some lunch. They don’t brew onsite, but they do brew a few blocks away. The taproom has a lovely outdoor patio area, as well as a covered patio and a few tables inside as well. It’s all very rustic and seaside, befitting its island location. They have what appears to be a permanent food truck onsite, which (at least today) was a gourmet bratwurst truck; I had the greek brat and it was quite good indeed. The dude working the bar was super friendly and we chatted a bit.

They had 11 of their beers on tap plus a couple guest ciders, beers, and seltzers. Styles included honey oatmeal stout, schwarzbier, copper ale, IPA, jalapeño hefeweizen, amber ale, two lagers (without further details), two pale ales, and an Oktoberfest. I had the schwarzbier and the flagship IPA and they were both solid, if not remarkable. Definitely worth stopping in if you are hungry and/or thirsty after you get off the ferry (or are waiting for the next ferry).
