Sampled on-tap at the brewery.
This hefeweizen poured a cloudy/murky orange-amber color with tall, faintly yellowish foam that persisted and clung to the glass. The smell was a strong banana and citrus (lemon) aroma with some yeast and malt notes. The taste was full of bananas, phenols (light cinnamon and a hint of cloves), yeast, and malt. There was lemony citrus in the finish. A very nice flavor, and I can easily believe they use Mahr's weizen yeast in this beer. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with medium body and moderate carbonation. The yeasty and cinnamon and citrus flavors lingered in the aftertaste. This was quite a good hefeweizen. (I think they were calling it a dunkel weizen, but it really was not that dark in color to me.)
