Look: Hazy and bright orange in the glass with a puffy white head that settles to a lid and leaves great lacing behind
Aroma: Kumquats, guava, passionfruit, peaches, a little mango, raspberries, starfruit, Halls honeysuckle, and some bready malt
Taste: Opens up with a flood of tropical fruit, kumquats, and peaches that hit hard and start to unpack, one by one. This is quickly followed by some tart passionfruit and raspberry notes that do well to keep the fruit medley from being too juicy, heavy, or sweet, and those two entities go back and forth with honeysuckle peeking in occasionally through the close
Mouthfeel: Full, fairly clean, medium-high carbonation, soft, and lightly tart on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. An interesting new one to me from these folks and typically one I’d be tentative about – being both a hazy IPA and fruit beer – but they nailed the combo in my opinion. It’s juicy and fruit, but not sweet, cloying, or heavy and the lightly tart finish really keeps it from finishing heavy, which I dig. Interesting, tasty, well-made, and recommended

500ml bottle picked up at John's Market [Eastside] in Portland, OR; first from Xicha; 'hazy passion fruit ipa'
Poured into a Solera nonic pint glass
p- gold/orange with a slight chill haze; 1f foamy white head; quick recession
n- med nose of bright passion fruit over lightly bready malt; clean; inviting
t- bold passion fruit barrages the palate; more tart than the nose lets on; soapy notes; crackery malt supports; alright
mf- med-bodied w/ high carb
o- not quite what I was hoping for; could use a little more sweetness to balance out the tart passion fruit character; high carb level hindered the profile a bit as well; definitely more of an American IPA profile instead of a hazy; happy to finally try something from Xicha, however would pass on this particular one in the future
