Had this vom Fass at the brewery. Very dark, old school style Märzen. Super deep amber color, a strong sweet malty smell, a very nutty flavor, almost metallic actually, and a very heavy feel... so heavy that one was enough. I like that Grohe is respecting this style and keeping the dark Märzen alive when most other German breweries have shifted over to the lighter "Festbier", but this is certainly a beer you have to be in the mood for to fully enjoy.

De Labirratorium. En copa hefe de Bavaria. Estudiando. Delicioso y corpulento dulzor maltoso que no le resta un ápice de bebestibilidad. Justo lo que esperaba. Se me ha acabado demasiado pronto

Brauerei Grohe GmbH “Märzen”
€2.40/0,25L vom fass at the brewery on 18 September 2021
Look: Clear deep amber-red with a brown sheen and orange and crimson highlights when held to the light. Short head of khaki colored foam. Very good head retention but limited lacing.
Smell: Clean with notes of grainy, bready, toasty, and caramelish malt with a touch of brown sugar.
Taste: Bready, grainy, nutty, and mildly toasty malt with some caramel, woodiness, and a burnt sugar edge that’s almost smoky. A firm bitterness balances it and it finishes dry with long lingering notes of nutty and caramelish malt and a dull bitterness.
Feel: Medium bodied with a gently crisp and then smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
Overall: Really nicely done. Well rounded and balanced.

Poured righ from the barrel at the brewery in Darmstadt. The beer pours a deep amber, with a thin, tan head. It smells sweet, a bit fruity for a German lager. It tastes very sweet, but finishes with a slight tinny, metallic taste, It is smooth on the tongue, not too fizzy. I have enjoyed this beer on many a summer night in the biergarten.

Pours a very clear light brown color with a small head that falls fast and leaves a little lacing on the glass. The aroma is much more hoppy than expected. Lots of German and possibly some English hops in there. The flavor has a bit of graniness along with the caramel malt, but the hop flavors are very much in the forefront. Not overused, just lots of flavors. The body is moderate and the drinkability is pretty good. Enjoyable.

Pours a very nice deep deep amber color with a finger of incredible white head that falls slowly to a modest coat over top. Very brilliant clarity as well. Nose is very nice. First thing that grabs me is the very solid noble hop aroma. Not something I have found in marzen beers before. I like it. That sits atop a semisweet bready and toasty malty base. That hop really is the focus though. Flavor is spot on the aroma. Dominated with with very fresh tasting noble hop, fading to a light grainey and toasty malt finish. Feel is on the light end of moderate with a nice moderate carbonation. Also good. Very drinkable brew. I really like the hopping in it. Aroma and flavor are good. I would have this one again. So pleased to have had the opportunity to try this one.
