Aarhus 25/7 2020. 33 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen, Vesterbro Torv, Aarhus. Simple label in blue and green with the tag line “cozy brooding beer”.
Pours opaque dark brown with a big off-white head. Settles as 4 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a mixture of a sugary sweet odor and strong grainy sourness. Caramel and toffee. Hints of nuts. Sour, sharp notes. Alcohol chiming in.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by a sharp sourness. Aftertaste is sweetish. Finish is sour with a harsh edge.
Boozy with a strong sweetness as a Doppelbock should be - but with a disconcerting sharp sourness.
