Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Murky somewhat brown, with muted dull orange colors for the body. Opaque but not a turbid miss showing just a little bit of rising carbonation. Rich forming off white head, of an easy three finger plus height looking creamy topped and some good ringed lacing.
Muted sense of hop, with quite a bit of caramel lightness. Hints crispy malt in a way, but not much sensing hop flavor profile with maybe a sense of herbal bitterness, and sage like flavor.
Palate seems to improve, but only a little. Decent backbone to make the beer showcase it's flavor, but it's a real basic one. Muted touching pine and a little bit of earth in the mid palate with some sweetness. However, the aftertaste is very astringent getting into an almost peppery hot quality and overly green sensing flavor. Mellows out nicely at least to become more tolerable.
Old school, but coming off a bit green and disconnected. Improves with warmth to at least be passable and drinkable.
