Freckles is a Czech Amber Lager (Polotmavé) brewed with authentic floor malted Czech malts and Czech hops, lagered for months and naturally carbonated to a delightful effervescence. Enjoy a delightful combination of malt complexity and drinkability; with an approachable yet flavorful character. The aroma greets you with prominent notes of toasted bread, caramel, and hints of biscuit. The maltiness brings forth flavors of caramel, toffee, and toasted grains, and a slight biscuit-like quality. The Kazbek hop bitterness is moderate, providing a gentle counterbalance to the malt sweetness and contributing to a clean, crisp finish with a very slight note of citrus.

Poured from undated can into a dimpled stein. It pours a cloudy, reddish-amber color with a small, foamy, ecru-colored head and lacing. The nose is sedate; mostly nutty caramel. The taste is more interesting: fairly bitter hops balance the earthy, nutty, caramel malt. I don't know the age but I suspect the balance would have been better when fresh. The mouth feel is fine: creamy, moderately bodied with appropriate carbonation, and the 5.2% ABV is appropriate. Overall, this is a nice Czech Amber. I just wish I could review it fresher to do it justice.
