This was the second beer I had at Finney’s yesterday during Happy Hour, as I wanted something to kick back with after a heavier offering. The bartender said it was like Sierra Nevada and to a large extent, it was. While it didn’t quite measure up to it, there was plenty to enjoy here without any aspect being particularly strong or noteworthy.
Golden in hue and topped off with enough foam, the lacing left behind was nowhere near as extensive. Only a few wavy hints of rings remained near the top as the suds did not linger for the duration. Lots of pine and floral notes in the nose as the citrus emerged in the taste. Full and balanced, the hops were here but they were not that pronounced as there was more than enough malt for the duration. A moderate amount of carbonation was on par with everything else here as this did turn out to be a brew that I could take my time with.
Hard to detect the alcohol as it was on par with more notable examples of this style. Nothing was wrong with this as I’d have it again with food, or on its own to end the night with. This would be a decent flagship beer although I’m not that familiar with their lineup!
