Pours jet black with very dark red cola highlights. And that's all she wrote.
The aroma is rich with sweet malt bouncing off robust malt. The Pretentious Glass Company Aromatic snifter is having fun with this one. Dark chocolate and light licorice follow, and the booziness is surprisingly high for 6.7%
The flavor is very sweet, yet still allows charred malt to be prominent. Chocolate is secondary. Something's not quite right with the flavor, because it has a sudden unpleasantness of chemicals. The finish is long and astringent.
It has a full body and watery texture that provides no real resistance to the carbonation. Alcohol is above expectations.
While this is an okay beer, I feel no urgency to try it again. I can see how some tweaking of the recipe could show some promise.
