Formerly know as "Altstadt" Most German cities have an Altstadt or "Old Town" quarter, which became the town center as civilization expanded outward. Around 1875, after 600 years of prosperity, Cologne's local breweries began losing sales to Bohemian imported Pilsners. In response, Cologne's guild of brewers created their own pale beer: the first modern kölsch The rules for brewing a true kölsch were expanded in 1986, even regulating how it's served (in the famous 6oz. "Strangen" glass). Our "New Town" kölsch-style ale blends qualities of lagers and ales for a crisp, delicate, and oh-so-drinkable experience. lts fuller body and earthy German hops make it perfect for warm summer days and excellent with food-- especially traditional German brats, sauerkraut, and a fresh-baked pretzel. Prost!

Had a few pints at the small garage-like brewery and took a 4-pack of this home for $16. A tasty, very drinkable version of the style. Has all the elements you want and expect. A proper American take.
