"Irish Gaelic for ""red beer"". Irish red ale originated in the city of Kilkenny in the early 1700s. Although ale had been brewed in the city at St. Francis Abbey since the 14th century, the origins of Irish red ale date to a brewery established by Daniel Sullivan in 1702."

Bought a mix of tall cans from the brewery on the way out and this was in the mix. Don’t find this style very often so was happy to try it. And what a stellar example of the style! Great malt profile with subtle sweetness and a rustic finish. Smooth and clean, really balanced feel and finish. Bravo!

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Dark, clear amber pour, off-white foamy head fades away to a thin film. Malty aroma, earthy, nutty. Taste is malty with minor sweetness. Abrupt finish.
