Poured from 500 ml can, cooled but not chilled to a full 4°C. Probably like 8 or 12° which is how I like most beer.

I don't know where to begin or quite what to say...

Well, starting with the weiss, I didn't actually notice that it was a wheat beer by taste. It reminded me of something like Maudite or Trois Pistoles (I can't remember which) by Unibroue, only milder, and less alchol.

It was a sensitive pour. There was generally quite a lot of head. It is dark like cola.

The carbonation is very high, and texture is medium to fine, and light.

Eh, regarding the flavors, I'm already finished so I might have trouble with this. As I mentioned earlier, it was hard for me to tell that it was a wheat beer. It has a nice amount of winter-style spice flavor (such as clove/phenolic, not quite sure what else). I like that sort of flavor year-round so I don't know why it's always associated with winter. There's also a significant amount of maltiness, which I enjoy, and yeast flavor which blends in nicely with the rest. Hops is very minimal, but it works good (I personally don't like much hops usually).

In summary, I liked this beer quite a lot. It is a great price, which is a very good trait to me (it did get slight unconscious bonus points for this, I think). It also has a nice dynamic of being a rich/wintery flavor, but light/mild enough in flavor and ABV that you could drink a ton of these if you wanted to. This was a rather crappy review, but I found this to be hard to review. It's just a good beer for it's style in my opinion.

355ml bottle, part of the current Muskoka winter mixed-pack. Curious as to what makes this a 'winter' version.

This beer pours a clear, dark orange brick brown colour, with one finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and somewhat bubbly beige head, which leaves some sparse streaky and dotted lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of semi-sweet roasted wheat grain, dried banana chips, a bit of bruised apple and pear, slightly phenolic yeast, day-old coffee, and a leafy, earthy bitterness. The taste is toasted caramel malt, wheat crackers, banana peel, musty yeast, applesauce, a hint of citric tartness, ethereal cafe-au-lait notes, a hint of wet char, and weak leafy, weedy hops.

The carbonation is fairly low-key in its plain, sort of fizzy manner, the body an average weight for the style, and perhaps more than a tad thin in its smoothness. It finishes off-dry, just, as the roasted wheat and malty graininess slough off most of the yeastiness, to come out of this cleaner than one might have initially expected.

An agreeable enough version of the style, though the idea of calling something 'winter', just because it is a darkened version of one of your bread and butter summer staples, seems kind of tangential at best. Anyways, if you like your dunkelweizens flavourful, but on the light side, this one's for you.

I bought a sample pack of this whilst in Hamilton for my son's hockey tournament. The beer poured a dark almost opaque with ecru head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of chocolate and banana. The taste has hints of clove and chocolate with touch of banana. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid beer

Purchased at The Beer Store for just under $3.00 for a 473ml can. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass.

A- Opens well and pours a 1" high brownish head that is gone in seconds. Very dark brown colour and unfiltered

S- Pepper!

T- Unusual metallic flavor. Not very good. Other than that very peppery (the spice pepper) and green peppers. Malty with a lot of yeast. Nice Dunkel brew.

M- Ok at best

O- Not a great blend but it is nice. Will not go seeking this out but if no better on the menu then this would be adequate and not disappointing.

Food Pairing

This not bad brew went ok with....... Oyster crackers and cured pork meats.

Can: Poured a lightly hazy light brown color Dunkel with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light banana ester with some sweet caramelized malt notes. Taste is a nice mix of caramelized wheat malt with some light residual sugar notes with some subtle notes of banana bread. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed but maybe lacking some of the complex and subtle flavours notes from the staples of the style.

A nice creamy smooth subtle beer. Nose has banana, cloves, and other spices. Taste follows. Quite lovely.

Deep amber with little haze and carbonated with both large and small bubbles. Topped with 4 fingers of beige head.

Smells of coriander, Coke, hard water, and light cream.

The taste follows the nose, with hints of rust and caramel.

Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sticky feel.

Got this at the Beer store in Bala a couple months ago, drinking nearby in Muskoka Jan 13th, 2018. Decent for the style, but its mostly the can and name that make it cool.

Close as I've gotten to a dunkel weisse since moving away from Germany. Not my favorite style (more of a plan old Weissen guy myself, or a really hoppy Czech pils). The taste on this one is good, I find that the mouth feel is a bit off though. Seems a bit "thick". Good for a dessert beer or one to throw into the mix but can't seem myself having several of these in a row. The cream Ale is my favorite from this brewery.
