From Christmas 2022, drunk in September 2023.
L: Jet black, but a bright jet black, if that makes sense... There's a mocha-coloured, thin rim of foam. Lots of lacing is left in the glass.
S: Blueberry, brown sugar, cola, caramelised sugar. The can says fudge brownie, but I get no chocolate or cocoa note.
T: Taste largely follows the nose, with a berry note the main player in the mouth. There's a little hoppy, medicinal bite to it, especially retronasally, that my brain characterises as fake cherry, which, at a very large stretch, could be bitter dark chocolate, but I'm just not getting the advertised chocolate fudge decadence.
M: The mouthfeel is smooth, with minimal carbonation. That bite that I mentioned earlier leads to a slight numbness in the mouth, which is why I thought it was hop-driven. It's not offensive, but I definitely wasn't expecting that from the beer.
O: This beer is not offensive; it's quite drinkable, and I would not run screaming if offered it again. As I mentioned above, my quibble is that I didn't pick up the expected chocolate fudginess advertised as this beer's main point.
Cheers

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
