Growler from Uptown Market. Brewed with a Chilean base malt and a combination of Ella and other hops.
A clear amber witha dense, white head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great! The nose has the intensely fruity, perfumey hop character that's all the rage these days. Tropical fruit (peach, passionfruit?)lemon verbena, a mild nutty malt character, citrons, and a mild pine-sol like note, intense but focused. Really perfumey, this.
The palate opens with a moderate hop character, fruity, mildly bitter and unfortunately, mildly soapy as well. In that regard, it reminds me of the Stone English DIPA they brewed for their anniversary a few years back - very hoppy but soapy too. Pine, citrons and fruit are present (some melon character). Drying on the finish, mildly bitter and mildly soapy, almost a combination of excessive hops and oxidation. Still, this beer, which is light in body and has a creamy carbonation, is quite enjoyable. Recommended.
