Had on tap during Oktoberfest at our local favorite German restaurant. Clear golden pour with a large off-white foam head. Smells of honey dipped malts and white bread the whole way. Taste reveal the honey to be joined by some light toasted caramel, simple but it is so pure and delicious. The old world feel with higher yeast and carb level is pleasing, dries out through the sip a bit from the wet malty start. Paired great with wurst platter and schnitzel. The wife liked it

On tap at Brahaus Schmitz in Philadelphia, PA.

This one pours a clear golden brown, with a small head, and big sheets of lacing down the mug.

This smells richly malty and delicious, with sweet breadiness, melanoidin honey biscuit aroma, light hops, and tea.

I love that this has that classic melanoidin rich breadiness. It's what I search for, and it's here in spades. There's very little hop character, with some slight caramel.

This is medium bodied, crisp and creamy, with a good level of carbonation.

This is a highly enjoyable malty delight.

Poured from a 0.5 liter bottle into a pint glass. I am drinking it warmer than what the "kühl" indicator on the bottle label is suggesting I drink it at.

Body is crystal clear amber to deep amber with tan color head that at first was chuncky then turned into a pillow like hat, decent lacing. Aroma is really there, guessing malty and a bit sweet. Taste is not what I expected from the aroma and appearance. Well balanced, more carbonation than I thought looking through the glass. I think it is a malty aftertaste after 30 seconds or so.

I find it hard to believe this thing as 5.8% ABV. I think this deserves a pretty good rating for simply surprising me. It is very drinkable.

I bought this bottle in Frankfurt on Nov 1 and consumed it immediately in a hotel executive lounge. The label says best by 05.05.11 so it should have some life left in it.

But no, it's skunked. Why is it skunked? It was produced nearby, I bought it from a darkish cooler, I consumed it within guidelines. It's the damn green bottle.

Should I review a skunked beer? It think I should, as a warning to others if nothing else. Why do they even make green bottles, they don't fulfill a purpose. I don't even like the look of them personally.

Anyway this beer was skunked to the level of burning my sinuses, and I can tell that the person in the seat next to mine on tomorrow's flight is gonna pay the highest price for this injustice.

Beer bottle (50cl), tasted in 2007.

Appearance : golden color, with white foam head.
Smell : caramel aroma and malty notes
Taste and mouthfeel : Malty flavour, with light notes of caramel, hops finish.
Drinkability : a good beer in the Märzen/Oktoberfest style.
