I tried this beer on May 29, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer pours a translucent pale golden yellow colour with a very thin white head. The aroma is grassy malt with a little bit of hops. The mouthfeel is crisp, medium bodied and medium carbonation. The flavour is very grassy.

500 ml can. Best before 31-08-08

A- A nice golden amber colour with orange highlights. A decent sized off-white head. Bid bubbles rising in the beer. Flecks floating in it (not too appetizing).

S- Touch of citrus, also some grassy notes. fairly standard fair.

T- Mild pale malt. Brief flash of hops bitterness that lingers into an OK aftertaste (citrussy, herbal). Touch of vegetables in there (from the corn?). Too watery.

MF- Smooth but not quite lager crisp. Not too light or watery.

D- OK, but nothing interesting. Easy enough to take.

Can: Poured a golden yellow color lager with a medium bubbly white head with minimal retention. Aroma of semi-sweet malt and light hops is a bit shy but could have been worse. Taste is sweet with some light floral hops at the end. There is some adjunct in there but not in such large quantities as to gross out the whole thing. Overall, this was not a bad beer but not something I would go for again.

Picked up a couple of these out of curiousity more than anything, Saw it there and I figured I'd give it a shot.

This poured from it's can a standard yellow with a head that actually remains behind, strangely enough. Not too bad to look at. Smell contains strong notes of Corn, and not a whole lot of anything else. This is reflected in the flavor, corn with little discernable hop character. Not harsh, sufficiently carbonated and surprisingly refreshing and clean. Very easy to down if I must say so myself.

This isn't an exceptional beer, but then it doesn't try to be, it's simple, plain, and refreshing, it gets the job done, and for what it is, it really is not that bad.

I doubt this is a euro dark lager. It was not a very dark colour at all. Yellow, with perhaps a bit of orange haze, and a decent sized head. Smells of grain husks, grass and a bit of floral hops. Tastes a bit rough at first, but slowly mellows down to a decent lager. Plenty of malts upfront, finishing with a honey/floral taste. Mouthfeel is a bit raw, yet oddly refreshing. Drinkable as a session lager. Not a great beer, but decent.

A fair lager. Pours out to a orange auburn color with a 1/8 of an inch head of white foam. Medium level of carbonation. Aromas of malty bread and yeast. A touch of sweetness. Taste was palateable and typical of the style; mildy roasted grains and malts, with a bread backbone and notes of yeast. Light hops were present, but were mostly overshadowed by the maltiness. Mouthfeel was fair, a touch of bubbly carbonation pepped the tongue, but didn't to much to enhance the nominal flavors. Drinkability is decent. Could be a good session lager for a summer cook-out. Worth a try.

Pours a clear golden/amber, big pillowy white head forms, pretty loose, some lacing and decent retention. Smell is sweet and malty, honey, citrus, some grass. Taste is sweet, honey, grass, citrus, iron, but quite rich, some bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, with medium carbonation, pretty smooth. Not bad at all, decent enough lager, and cheap.

Appearance: Clear gold with a big head, little bubbles rising. Not really that dark. Head is really chunky with good staying power, lots of lace.

Smell: Hops come on strong - grassy, herby, citrusy smells.

Taste: Some fruitiness. Good hop presence in the back end. Hop taste lingers for a good long time. Maybe could use a bit more malt to balance the hops.

Mouthfeel: Definitely very light feel. Low carbonation.

Drinkability: Not great, decent I guess, but I wouldn't pick this one out of a decent lineup.

Ive been very hesistant to try this ever since I tried the horrid sickly Wells IPA. Both come in cans and 2 litre pop bottles. I reasoned that any brewery that makes such a bad IPA would make a terrible lager, I was wrong.

The first this I noticed on the pour was the intensity of carbonation. A dense swarm of tiny carb bubbles rocket to the surface very quickly and even gather on the sides of the glass like lacing. The head is creamy and heavyset and literally coats the glass in lace. The color is deep gold. The aroma is of candylike, slightly grainy malt balanced by spicy Euro hops. The taste is malty first with cookie dough coming to mind. A floral hoppiness provides balance in the background. Theres also a wiff of DMS. The mouthfeel is thick but not as carbonated as I was expecting.

I was pleasantly surprised by this lager, possibly the first original English brewed lagers Ive tried. The flavors are well balanced with nothing off. I couldnt even taste the corn listed as an ingredient. Recommend

Amber coloured beer. Moderate soapy white head with reasonable retention and some lace. Looks better than your average macro.

Aroma is hops and grains over gentle malts. Competent without being exciting. Some malt up front with a long lingering bitter finish from the hops. Great sandwich or burger beer. Nicely crisp and hoppy.

Worth a try, good at a barbecue, but don't expect to make it your regular quaff.

Presentation: I found this 500ml can in Montreal saturday. It was the first time I heard about this one.

Appearance: It pours beautiful brownish gold colour with a very generous foamy white head. It dissappears fast, but it leave nice laces. Good carbonation

Smell: I got a strong aroma. It smells so much that my cat wanted it to taste (I got that strange habit to lick my empties.) right away. The aroma itself shows a major presence of corn / adjunct.

Taste: It is bitter (hops), but interesting. Unfortunetely, "maize" is named in the ingredients list. Its bitter aftertaste lasts a very long time in your throat.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation burns too much my tongue and palate.

Drinkability: This imported beer was cheap and it can be a cheap alternative to all these Buds and more expensive macros of the world.

1/2 liter can...finally got to the Chas. Wells after being scared off by the big 2 liter plastic pop bottles they market this beer in.

Poured a nice pleasant gold color, lasting white frothy cap that laces well. Well carbonated. Aromas are well pronounced and also pleasant: sweet caramel biscuit malts over some citrusy hops.

Fair malt spine to this ...good malt departure balanced off well with the citrus-pine hops...moderate clean finish....medium bodied...well rounded....refreshing,...

.... a well made all-malt utility lager with a Brit touch to it in the hopping...not great but good standard fare. At the price I’d much rather buy this than the hordes of commie welfare lagers on LCBO shelves.

--poured a fairly dark, cloudy color. Started with a nice head that slowly became smaller, leaving a nice trace.
--Smelled of average lager beer. The taste was nothing spectacular, but nice none the less. It was a beer that I would drink again, but I won't activelly look for one.

This offering from Charles Wells/Eagle Brewery is a dark amber, fairly cloudy with a very limited crown. The body is very full. The taste is very malty and my first and lasting impression was of licorice. This lager does not quench your thirst, it causes it...Not impressed.
